AOI can be placed at multiple positions on the production line, but there are three main locations:

1. After solder paste printing. Placing AOI inspection after the solder paste printer is a typical location, as many defects are caused by poor solder paste printing. For example, insufficient solder paste may lead to component loss or open circuits.

2. Before reflow soldering. Placing the inspection equipment after component placement and before reflow soldering is used to detect defects caused by poor placement.

3. After reflow soldering. Placing the inspection equipment after reflow soldering is a common AOI location in China. It can detect defective products from all previous processes to ensure defects do not reach the customer.
